T-Mobile says it plans on releasing multiple Android phones from three partners

As many of you might already know, T-Mobile is the first wireless carrier in the world to release a mobile phone running under the Google Android operating system, the T-Mobile G1, while also being expected to add to its offering at least three other handsets featuring the platform, as some recently leaked info on its roadmap has shown.

This time around we learn that the company intends to release to the market multiple mobile phones running under Android, and that these handsets will come from three partners of the carrier. T-Mobile's CTO Cole Brodman is reported to have recently talked to GigaOm about the company's plans, also saying that the phones should be launched before the end of the ongoing year.

One of the expected devices would be the second Android-based mobile phone in the world, the HTC Magic, which has been recently introduced on the European market with Vodafone, and which has been spotted into the wild heading towards T-Mobile under different names, such as Sapphire or myTouch.

Other devices to come to the wireless operator with Android should be the Samsung Houdini or the Korean mobile phone maker's recently announced Samsung I7500, which should be launched with O2 later this year. Both handsets have been spotted on the above mentioned leaked roadmap, and, since they come from two different companies, HTC and Samsung, we could say that two of the carrier's partners are known already.

What T-Mobile is also expected to release on the market this year is a successor of the G1, namely the G1 v2 Bigfoot, which is reported to come from HTC as well and should become available for purchase sometime this fall. As for the rest of the phones to come to its offering with Android, there are no specific details on them, but rumor has it that among them we might be looking at a Huawei handset that was unveiled during MWC 2009 show in Barcelona. On the other hand, mobile phone makers like Motorola or Sony Ericsson also announced plans to launch such devices, and one of them might go to T-mobile as well.
