Wireless carrier T-Mobile is reportedly gearing up for the launch of the T-Mobile myTouch Slide in mid June. To be more precise, rumors on a possible June 16 launch date for the device just made it into the wild, suggesting that the T-Mobile myTouch Slide has been pushed back a little from the originally slated release for June 2.
The company announced that
the new mobile phone was expected to become available for purchase for its customers during June, but it didn't offer a specific day for when that should happen. Some leaked info that surfaced over at
TmoNews suggested that the device would arrive on June 2, yet the news site says that the actual launch day might have been set for June 16 instead.
One way or the other, it should be less than a month before
T-Mobile myTouch Slide makes it into the hands of enthusiasts. When it comes to the price tag it might feature, one should expect it to be set at $149.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier. Contract free, the upcoming Android-based device should cost around $399.99.
As the successor of a T-Mobile myTouch,
the Slide comes to the market with a spacious QWERTY keyboard, a responsive 3.4-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options, a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space (an 8GB card included in the package), e-mail and MMS capabilities, as well as easy access to social networking sites.
The new mobile phone is powered by Google's Android 2.1 operating system, but it comes with a series of features exclusively available for it users, including the Faves Gallery, myModes, or the Genius Button.
The UI on this phone, called Espresso, is expected to arrive on the original myTouch too, along with the Android 2.1 OS, something that should happen after the launch of Slide.
