T-Mobile and Sony VAIO have agreed on close cooperation in selected European countries. The aim is to launch joint offers for fastest mobile Internet connections by laptop. The first offers to be made by the two partners will be Sony VAIO laptops featuring the latest mobile Internet HSDPA technology for surfing and file downloading at up to 3.6 megabits per second. The product will feature Express Card interface, ensuring low battery consumption.

Web'n'walk, the highspeed Internet access by T-Mobile, enables through the second expansion
phase of HSDPA technology (HSDPA, Highspeed Downlink Packet Access) a double increase in the maximum HSDPA data-transmission rate from currently 1.8 megabits per second to 3.6 megabits per second.

"T-Mobile is constantly expanding and improving its web'n'walk service for highspeed access to the mobile Internet," says Andr Stark, Executive Vice President Business Marketing at T-Mobile International. "We are therefore delighted to be launching our HSPDA at 3.6 megabits per second together with Sony, one of the leading and especially innovative laptop manufacturers."

"The demand for mobile Internet on the laptop is increasing and Sony VAIO wants to prove once again its innovation leadership by being the first to announce the launch of HSDPA 3.6 Mbps Express Card solution," explains Jun Koyama Marketing Director VAIO of Europe. "A distinctive feature of our VAIO laptops is the mobility and with the always-online concept our PC's become the perfection for business and entertainment on the move, as customers have access to all the information they need anytime anywhere."

T-Mobile International and Sony VAIO plan to launch their cooperation offer in Germany, Austria and the UK. T-Mobile and Sony will announce further details on their offer at a later date.
