14 DAY TRIAL // Cybercriminals have hacked a server operated by a T-Mobile supplier. The attackers have accessed a file containing names, addresses, social security numbers and driver’s license numbers.
According to the letter sent to impacted customers, the breach was discovered in November 2013. The company believes that the cybercriminals were after credit card numbers. However, the information was not found in the compromised file.
On the other hand, since the information obtained by the hackers could be misused, affected individuals are being offered free identity protection services from Experian for one year.
The supplier whose systems have been breached has reportedly taken measures to ensure that such incidents are avoided in the future.
The exact number of impacted individuals has not been disclosed. The incident has been reported to the California Attorney General, which indicates that at least some of the victims are from the state of California.
