At the CTIA Wireless expo, wireless carrier T-Mobile has announced a new upgrade for its network, which is now capable of delivering theoretical download speeds of up to 42 Mbps.

T-Mobile's users in Las Vegas, New York and Orlando, Fla., are those to enjoy the new speeds first, with Chicago to follow closely, and with a near planned expansion of the New York network into Long Island, N.Y., and Northern New Jersey.

According to the wireless carrier, 140 million Americans in 25 markets should be able to taste the new network enhancement by mid-year.

In addition to the new network improvement, the wireless carrier also went official with some more info on its lineup of consumer-ready 4G products, which got expanded with the addition of T-Mobile G2x.

“As T-Mobile continues the aggressive expansion of America’s Largest 4G Network, we’re doubling our maximum speed in more than two dozen markets, starting with three important cities today,” said Neville Ray, chief technology officer, T-Mobile USA.

“We will continue to build on our 4G network advantage this year, providing customers with an industry-leading mobile data experience.”

The wireless carrier aims at offering a number of 25 4G-capabile devices during the ongoing year, including seven new 4G-capable devices this spring, among which we can count smartphones, tablets and mobile broadband products.

Among the smartphones that would be available on the carrier's airwaves, we can count the aforementioned T-Mobile G2x, the Galaxy S 4G, or the upcoming T-Mobile Sidekick 4G.

Moreover, the lineup would include the T-Mobile G-Slate with Google by LG, which runs under the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system, and which should become available for purchase at a price tag of $529.99 after a $100 mail-in-rebate.

The tablet PC arrives on shelves with a brilliant 8.9-inch, 3D-capable, multitouch HD display, and with support for 3D and full HD video recording.

Along with these, the company would also make available a series of other 4G capable products, including a T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot, T-Mobile Rocket 3.0, its first 42 Mbps capable 4G product, and a series of 4G laptop sticks, including the T-Mobile Jet 2.0 and the prepaid T-Mobile Rocket 4G.
