WildTangent, the company that operates a games service that allows users to access downloadable, online and social games via Games App, has just announced that it has signed an agreement with T-Mobile USA to offer Android games for rental to its customers

The new game service that will be launched in collaboration with T-Mobile USA later this year will be fueled by Wild-Tangent's proprietary ad platform, BrandBoost and will use digital currency.

Basically, T-Mobile customers will be able to rent Android games, purchase them or play them for free courtesy of brand advertisers.

In addition, the service is intended to offer Android developers an innovative way to maximize monetization for their apps and to allow T-Mobile customers new choices on Android-powered smartphones and tablets.

Through this new service with T-Mobile, we will give developers new options, modernizing the industry with a service model that fully monetizes game play through advertising and repeat-game-play. T-Mobile will give consumers more gaming options on Android devices and will present games in a fun, curated fashion,” said WildTangent CEO Mike Peronto.

Users who wish to rent one of their favorite games will have the choice to play it for free with advertising or rent it for a fraction of the suggested retail price if they do not want to purchase and keep it.

The cost of the rental will be applied toward purchase so customers can easily own games if they play them often.

T-Mobile customers are among the most active mobile gamers in the industry,” said Torrie Dorrell, vice president of Applications, Content and Games at T-Mobile. “This service with WildTangent, coming later this year, will give our customers using Android devices more ways to discover and access their favorite games.”

According to WildTangent, customers are required to use its popular WildCoins virtual currency for in-game item purchase and rental, which is included within the service.
