Will the R*ZR madness ever end?

Rumors say that T-Mobile USA is going to get the Motorola RIZR Z3, a handset which got FCC approved in mid October 2006. As I said on that occasion too, the Z3 will offer you exactly what you can get from a RAZR V3 clamshell, the same operating system and approximately the same specification sheet.

This is a quad-band phone working on 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz networks, EDGE data transfer technology, voice recognition software, a music player that will offer the capability to listen to your favorite music files while on-the-go, Bluetooth connectivity with stereo A2DP profile, picture messaging, speakerphone, a microSD memory expansion card slot, a 2 megapixel digital camera with video capture capabilities, a 220x176 resolution display, all tucked in a slider form-factor.

The box will get you the handset, a headset, a miniUSB data cable, a 128 MB microSD card, a battery, a battery charger, SIM and quick start guide.

Due to it being launched on the T-Mobile network you'll also get access to some of their special service like myFaves, MegaTones and instant messaging (AIM, MSN, Yahoo and ICQ).

Overall, this is a decent phone but the fact of it sporting almost the same spec sheet as its older RAZR brother will surely get some people to not considering it as an eventual handset to buy. Although its not out of the ordinary features could be a serious drawback, its looks will probably attract the eventual buyers with a more "basic spec sheet RAZR looks" driven mind. That's a narrow niche of the mobile market but someone has to fill in and, if Motorola wouldn't, who would?

The phone is set to be launched on March 12th and doesn't have any price tag attached on its back yet. This means we will all have to wait until they officially unveil it or until the launch date itself.

Either way, be sure to check back because we'll keep you posted in case of anything new surfacing on this subject in the meantime.
