The official ROM did not pass the carrier’s quality checks

Although Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Sensation 4G should have been rolled out beginning today, customers were left waiting for the upgrade without any explanations.

However, due to the overwhelming feedback received from disgruntled customers disappointed by the fact that T-Mobile wasn’t true to its promise, the carrier decided to come forward with some sort of explanation.

The good news is that HTC did its part of the job and sent T-Mobile USA the official Android 4.0 ICS ROM for the Sensation 4G. The bad news is that the ROM did not pass the carrier’s quality checks.

HTC has delivered a ROM to us however it is still having issues the reason that other sensation types have the update without issue and ours did not come out that way is because every ROM must be adapted to the hardware of the device because we use a different radio than other providers and also have applications such as Wi-Fi calling it also has to be compatible with those.”

Unfortunately, the original ROM wasn’t sent to T-Mobile last year, instead HTC offered the carrier the chance to test it only recently.

After finding some issues with the compatibility of the ROM with its own HTC Sensation 4G, T-Mobile USA decided to send back the ROM for further investigation. This means that HTC now has the ball.

The faster they’ll be working, the sooner T-Mobile customers will be able to get their promised Android 4.0 ICS update for the HTC Sensation 4G.

What the HTC rep told you is most likely correct because once a ROM is delivered we have 2 weeks to test it and then approve it or send it back they then have 4 weeks to fix the bugs and return it back to us, where we are exactly in that process I do not know but that is how a ROM is delivered to the customer.”

If you are one of T-Mobile’s customers who own the HTC Sensation 4G, you should stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
