Wireless carrier T-Mobile UK is reportedly preparing the launch of a number of 15 new mobile phones for the first quarter of the ongoing year, both pre- and post-paid devices. It seems that the operator is focused on delivering handsets that will offer users access to more mobile applications, as well as to mobile Internet and messaging. There are eight on contract mobile phones the carrier has in store for its users during this quarter, including the BlackBerry Storm 2 (9520), LG POP (GD510), Sony Ericsson Vivaz, Nokia E72, Nokia X6, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (Android), Samsung Galaxy Portal (Android), and LG In Touch Max GW620 (Android).

Some of these phones might be already familiar to you, as the carrier already released them on its network. According to Mobile News, the list of planned pre-paid devices includes eight items too, but one of the phones, LG POP (GD510), is also offered with monthly contract deals. Other handsets would be the BlackBerry Curve 8520, T-Mobile Vairy Text, T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2, Nokia 2220, Nokia 1616, Sony Ericsson W205, and T-Mobile Pulse (Android).

“We know customers want great handsets. To make sure you have the range customers want, we only sign up the brightest and the best. So sales channels have devices for customers with budgets of under £10 through to those after premium devices that offer fast internet and more apps than you can shake a stick at,” T-Mobile products and services trainer Rick Warren commented.

In related news, we learn that the carrier has great plans for BlackBerry smartphones for the ongoing year, following the success it registered in 2009 with them. T-Mobile managed to ship around 10,000 BlackBerry units each week in Q4, and will expand its offering of handsets from Research In Motion with the launch of BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 in February, and with the addition of Curve 8520 to its pre-pay lineup. Not to mention that the latter will arrive with free text messaging for 30 days and free email and Internet usage for six months if bought between March 1 and May 31.

“It was a phenomenal year for BlackBerry and T-Mobile. We have seen significant growth. We have established the BlackBerry brand with huge investment. There was a lot of focus on the consumer market, but we are in no way turning our back on business,” Phil Lander, T-Mobile account director at BlackBerry-maker RIM states. “The entry-level Curve 8520 is a really strong prepay proposition. We are anticipating big things for this, not just because of the product, but also because of the T-Mobile brand and the propositions that will help drive its success,” he concludes.
