After a long series of delays, the Android 2.2 software update for the high-end Samsung Galaxy S devices on T-Mobile UK's airwaves is finally being rolled out.

The mobile phone carrier announced last week plans to have the solution ready by December 1st, but it missed that term. However, it said at the time that this week would certainly bring Froyo for its Galaxy S users, and today the new OS version is being deployed to handsets out there.

“Good news for Samsung Galaxy S owners! The 2.2 Android software update is now available to download using the Samsung Kies software,” T-Mobile announced via Twitter.

Last week, the wireless carrier announced via its forums that it planned on making the software update available over the air, but it seems that it did not manage to make the move until now.

However, users would now be able to download the new Android 2.2 Froyo software solution via the Samsung Kies software, which needs to be installed on a Windows desktop PC.

Other Galaxy S devices out there received the software solution this way as well, including unlocked handsets, or carrier branded phones.

For those who might have missed previous reports on the matter, we should note that the Android 2.2 OS upgrade brings to Galaxy S enhancements that include:

- Google Maps with Navigation: GPS navigation system with voice guidance - Adobe Flash Player 10.1: Allow the web browser to make full use of the whole web - Setup Wizard: Quickly customize the GALAXY S and access networks with ease - Home Screen/Menu Preview and Edit : Preview by pinch-zoom - Search in-Browser : Google, Translate, Wikipedia, Dictionary

At the same time, the software solution should come with various performance enhancements too, making the Galaxy S a faster device than it already is.

T-Mobile UK customers owning a Galaxy S should connect their handsets to the desktop PC, fire up Samsung Kies and start updating.

In case there are some who do not have the Samsung Kies application installed, they can download the latest version from Softpedia too, via this link.
