It appears that some Samsung Galaxy S owners out there are luckier than others, and that they will actually taste the new Android 2.2 operating system at the end of September, just as originally planned.

Among news on Samsung delaying the release of Android 2.2 Froyo for Galaxy S units in various markets, confirmation of it being set to roll-out on handsets before the end of the month emerged for the UK.

To be more specific, we're referring here to a single wireless carrier in the country, namely T-Mobile UK, which has just announced officially via its support forums that the Galaxy S 2.2 update should become available for users at the end of this month.

Here's what the said announcement, which comes from Stef, Forum Team, reads:

Hi there,

We are pleased to announce that there will be a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S at the end of the month. This will update your phone software to Android 2.2 and will be available through the Samsung Kies PC application. As stated above, the announcement comes soon after Samsung Galaxy S was rumored to get the Froyo update only at the end of October in some markets around the world, including Spain and India.

Of course, this does not exclude the possibility that it would be delayed in the UK too, but, since the end of the month is near, chances are that things won't change for the worse for Galaxy S users.

Since the software update will be released via the Samsung Kies PC application, users will have to connect their handsets to a Windows-based PC to perform the upgrade, while having to install the software solution on that PC.

Unfortunately, no info on whether the Android 2.2 Froyo update will be delivered over the air emerged for the time being, but more should be announced as the roll-out day approaches, so stay tuned for more info on this.
