Wireless services provider T-Mobile has reportedly started to deliver the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system to its Galaxy S III users, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The new software update will arrive on handsets as a 187MB download, and should be delivered to all users over-the-air. However, it seems that users will be able to install it on their devices using the Samsung Kies desktop application as well.

Users will receive a notification on the availability of the update as soon as it is ready for delivery to their devices, and they will be able to start downloading it right away.

“Beginning May 13, the Samsung Galaxy S III will have a software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software T999UVDMD5 via OTA and Samsung Kies,” T-Mobile notes in a post on its support website.

“This update includes new features like Multi-Window, Auto-pairing via NFC, enhanced Camera options, Sound Balance and many more.”

T-Mobile also announced that the new software would be deployed over-the-air through June 16, and that all Galaxy S III devices on its network should receive it by that time.

Galaxy S III owners at T-Mobile can search for the new software through heading to Settings > About device > Software update.

In addition to bringing the smartphone up to Android 4.1.2 and delivering the aforementioned enhancements, the OS refresh will also include features such as Paper Artist, Samsung Gallery, Blocking Mode, and Easy Mode, the wireless carrier announced.

In order to update to the new software, users should make sure that their handsets run under firmware version T999UVDLJC, and that they are unrooted.

They should also charge the battery inside the phone to the full, and should make sure that they backed up all data on the phone, so that no important files are lost in the update process.
