Wireless carrier T-Mobile has just confirmed the release date for one of the most appealing Android-based smartphones it would bring to the market during the first half of the ongoing year, namely the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G.

Following various rumors regarding the official availability of this device, the carrier has finally confirmed that it would be released on April 20th.

“Its official, T-Mobile's Sidekick 4G arrives on April 20,” the wireless carrier announced via a recent tweet.

Previously, the mobile phone carrier confirmed the price tag this handset would sport when available, namely $99.99 when purchased with the signing of a contract agreement on an unlimited plan.

Users interested in its purchase with a capped monthly plan would have to pay $149.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The new device would arrive on shelves with a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a sliding QWERTY keyboard, which features a unique hinge design.

The new device comes from Samsung, the company that manufactured the second Google phone out there, the Nexus S, and should be added to an already popular Sidekick lineup at T-Mobile, which, unfortunately, would have the services that kept it alive phased-out as of May 13th.

The new smartphone comes to the market with the same popular design that Sidekick devices had before it, while adding the power of Google's Android operating system into the mix.

Among the main features of the mobile phone, we can count the fact that it comes with support for lightning-fast 4G data download speeds on the carrier's HSPA+ network.

Moreover, it arrives with a fast 1GHz application processor inside, as well as with a front-facing camera for video calling through T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik.

Not to mention that it was packed with a series of specific features, including Reply-all Group Text and texting from the web with Cloud Text, as well as with a special user interface, the so called Sidekick UI.
