T-Mobile myTouch 4G received its Android 2.3 Gingerbread update about six months ago, but the carrier continues to support the smartphone with software updates.

Beginning today through January 23, T-Mobile USA will roll out another software update that will bring new features and improvements to the myTouch 4G smartphone.

The Android  2.3.4/Software version 2.32.531.1 update is pushed OTA (over the air), so myTouch 4G owners should be automatically notified when the update is available for download.

It is important to install this update, which adds an important Google security update, as well as a new version of Swype. Additional software improvements are provided as well, including fast dormancy, Hotmail, turning off CMAS and GPS location.

T-Mobile USA also mentions that there is no manual download option for this update, and the timeline for receiving it cannot be expedited.
