For the second quarter in a row, T-Mobile UK’s mobile broadband network has been considered the best in the UK in independent tests performed by the leading test house P3 Solutions. The benchmarking tests on T-Mobile's network compared it to competitors while measuring the customer experience, which is considered to have the most importance during peak usage hours. The tests were carried out across 16 cities throughout the country.

The results of the tests unveiled the fact that, during the fourth quarter of last year, T-Mobile was able to deliver the fastest web-browsing experience. On average, the speed is reported to have been about 35 percent higher that that delivered by the nearest competitor.

“To be ranked No1 for two consecutive quarters since testing began in April last year is a significant achievement. Our consistently high performance is testament to the fact that we continually test and improve our network to make sure our customers are getting the best possible mobile broadband experience. As the number of customers opting for the flexibility and convenience of mobile broadband continues to rise quarter on quarter, we will continue to expand on the potential of mobile broadband, through improved performance and our innovative range of tariffs and laptop bundles,” stated Emin Gurdenli, chief technology officer, T-Mobile UK.

The mobile phone carrier started independent network benchmarking in the second quarter of last year, so as to be able to establish a framework to make further improvements in the mobile broadband customer experience. The performance of the network is measured against everyday applications like the browsing of the most popular websites, video streaming or downloading MP3 music files that measure 3MB. At the same time, the uploading of a 1MB file or the performance of an email with a 500KB attachment are also measured.

The measurements are performed seven days a week between 11am and 11pm, so as to replicate the real-world usage patterns. T-Mobile has managed to gain a 12 percent improvement in the reliability of web browsing in its network since the testing began, while the download speeds have been leveraged with over 40 percent.
