Might not be able to restore user's data

T-Mobile Sidekick users out there seem to be some of the most unhappy mobile phone users in the world. A server error has led to Sidekick data service disruption for the past few days, but that is the least of their worries. According to a recent statement from T-mobile, in which it apologizes for the inconveniences it has created, the user data might not be recovered at all. Although Danger, a subsidiary of Microsoft, and T-Mobile are working on this matter, users might not be able to recover the data stored on servers.

“Regrettably, based on Microsoft/Danger's latest recovery assessment of their systems, we must now inform you that personal information stored on your device - such as contacts, calendar entries, to-do lists or photos - that is no longer on your Sidekick almost certainly has been lost as a result of a server failure at Microsoft/Danger. That said, our teams continue to work around-the-clock in hopes of discovering some way to recover this information. However, the likelihood of a successful outcome is extremely low. As such, we wanted to share this news with you and offer some tips and suggestions to help you rebuild your personal content,” is what the wireless carrier states.

This seems to turn into one of the largest cloud computing fails in recent history, and, although T-Mobile offered users a month of free service, back when the issue was supposedly of a minor magnitude, this might not help those who lost their contact lists, calendars, to-dos, and other personal content and have no backup to restore them from. The carrier is expected to announce today how things have evolved. Until more details on the status of the repair are available, we should mention that the carrier has already pulled the Sidekick from sale. All models appear as out of stock at the moment on the carrier's website, and they have been pulled from retail as well. Stay tuned to learn more on this.
