While concerns over
BlackBerry's future in the US continues, T-Mobile has launched the 8700G in UK. The only physical differences between the 8700G and its 8700C (
Cingular Wireles, U.S.), 8700R (Rogers Wireless, Canada), and 8700F (
OrangeFrance)
replicas are simply cosmetic. All models feature the same technical specifications.
The BlackBerry 8700, RIM's first handheld to support high-speed
EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) wireless networking, measures 110 x 69.5 x 19.5 millimeters and weighs 134 grams. Its design is slimmer, more compact and lighter than the older BlackBerry models. The handheld features 64 MB of flash memory, 16 MB of RAM and an 312 MHz PXA9xx XScale processor. In addition
RIM's BlackBerry includes a key QWERTY keyboard, and a
QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) main display that supports over 65,000 colors. RIM states that all BlackBerry 8700 models incorporate intelligent light sensing technology which automatically adjusts both the LCD and keyboard lighting to provide an optimized view in outdoor, indoor and dark environments.
BlackBerry 8700G features a wide array of software like browser, organizer, messaging applications. T-Mobile UK hasn't announced the price of the device yet.
