No later than yesterday, T-Mobile USA began deploying a software update that will bring HTC Amaze 4G owners the long awaited Wi-Fi calling feature.

However, the update also includes several new features and performance improvements. T-Mobile USA officially announced the update on its support site, along with its change log.

Furthermore, the carrier stated that the update began rolling out on December 12 and will continue to be pushed OTA (over the air) until January 20, 2012.

This means that not all HTC Amaze 4G owners will get the update by the end of the year. T-Mobile customers who have yet to be notified on the update may want to check for it manually by going to Menu / About phone / HTC software updates / Check.

The new software build 1.43.531.3 Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread will update the HTC Amaze 4G with the Wi-Fi calling feature, and, as we already mentioned earlier, it will improve the phone’s performance and stability.

Apart the Wi-Fi calling feature, the update will also add the Google Music, and it will improve the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.

In addition, the clock widget issue has been solved, so the widget will now update with the time zone change correctly. Two more applications, Twitter and Peep have been improved as well.

HTC Amaze 4G was announced back in September and hit shelves at T-Mobile USA one month later. The Android smartphone is exclusively available in the United States from T-Mobile, but multiple carriers are offering the device in Canada, including TELUS, Mobilicity and WIND Mobile.

The phone is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Scorpion processor clocked at 1.5 GHz processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit.

The Amaze 4G is now available for purchase via T-Mobile USA for as low as $229.99 (175 EUR) with a new two year agreement.
