Owners of a Samsung Galaxy S II on the airwaves of T-Mobile in the United States can now bump up the speed of their devices through an unofficial overclicking kernel than emerged into the wild recently.

Available courtesy of XDA-Developers, the tool will offer users the possibility to bring the speed of their handset's application processor up to 1.8GHz.

Considering that the handset was made available with an application processor clocked in at 1.2GHz, the speed increase is a significant one, especially since the device is stable enough to be used.

The custom kernel can be downloaded from this XDA-Developers forum thread, but those who will choose to do so should know that they will be the only ones to be held responsible in case anything goes wrong.

Before proceeding with the installation and overclocking, users should also make sure they read all of the instructions published on the said forum thread.
