After months of rumors and expectations, the Google Android G1 finally made its first official appearance on September 23, at the same time with the announcement that it was going to be made available in T-Mobile USA network starting October 22. Since then, the hype around the phone has truly reached incredible levels, especially at carrier T-Mobile, which is now taking pre-orders for the Google phone built by HTC, thus making it a success even before hitting the stores. Given that almost everybody wants such device, this is clearly not a bad start at all.

Just recently, we informed you about the plans of G1's producer, the Taiwanese company High Tech Computer (or, in short, HTC), which aimed at selling over 2 million G1 Phones, out of which 500,000 until the end of the year. With the rate pre-orders are going right now at T-Mobile, it seems that these predictions might just come true.

A spokesperson from T-Mobile said that “Given the great anticipation and the heavy pre-sale demand for the T-Mobile G1 with Google, we nearly tripled the number of phones initially available for delivery on our Oct. 22 launch date, and have sold through them all.” Furthermore, when users access G1's T-Mobile webpage, and click the “I want one” tab, they get to see this message: “Because of overwhelming demand, we’re setting aside even more T-Mobile G1 phones as a special thanks to you, our loyal T-Mobile customers. This is your chance to order yours today, before it hits the streets, and guarantee you don’t go without.“

The price for G1 starts at $179.99 and, if customers order it before October 21, it will be delivered to them by November 10, 2008.

With all this, it is understandable why everyone would think that G1 will be a smashing hit. However, precisely why that is more likely to happen, because of its features or due to its potential of becoming the next fashion trend in mobile phones world, still remains to be seen.
