T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile myTouch 3G are the first Mobile phones to ever reach the United States market with Google's Android operating system on board, but now they are facing stronger competition in the Android area (Sprint's HTC Hero), something that determined Walmart to operate a little cut on their price tags. Mobile phone users in the US who would like to go for these older Android handsets will find them available now at Walmart priced at $48.88 and $98.88, respectively.

According to Tmonews, although the new price tags are not yet showed on Walmart's website, they will soon be listed this way. However, one should check with the local Walmart to see whether the offer is already in place or it will come in the near future. Moreover, the news site also says that the Samsung Highlight can be purchased for as little as $18.88 at Walmart, which also sounds like a great offering, one should agree.

This is not the first price cut the two devices have seen lately, as only three weeks ago T-Mobile dropped G1's cost to only $129.99 on contract. The signing of a 2-year service agreement is needed to benefit from the new $48.88 price tag as well, and the same applies to myTouch 3G's $98.88 price. For what it's worth, the offering seems to be a very good one, especially considering the fact that there are a wide range of handsets priced the same yet offering fewer capabilities.

As many of you might already know, the T-Mobile G1 is also available on Amazon with a reduced cost, $97.77, which is higher than the new one, yet better than the one asked by the wireless carrier. Compared to the myTouch 3G, the older G1 might not appeal to users as much at this price as the former does with the $98.88 price tag at Walmart, that's for sure. The new prices haven't been yet listed on Walmart's website, but you can check here to see when they will be put in place.
