Motorola's first mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system, the Motorola Cliq, is now available for purchase for T-Mobile customers. The price tag for the device has been set at $199 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement, yet only existing T-Mobile customers can benefit from the offer at the moment, while others will have to wait until November 2 for the phone to become available for purchase.

The new Android-based device comes with a 3.1-inch display that sports a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, geo tagging and picture editing, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11 b,g and MicroUSB 2.0 high-speed connectivity options, built-in GPS receiver, a 3.5mm audio jack, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor, as well as a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The handset has been already launched in Europe via Orange, under the name of Dext, and T-Mobile announced not too long ago that it would release it on November 2. The carrier's customers willing to go for the new phone should also consider the following: “Limited time offer while supplies last; subject to change. Subject to credit approval. New 2-year agreement with qualifying voice and data plan required. $35 per line activation fee may be required; up to $200/line early cancellation fee applies to 2-year agreements. Other upfront and monthly taxes and fees may apply, including an $18 upgrade fee.”

For what it's worth, the Motorola Cliq seems to be one of the nicest Android devices on the market at the moment. However, Motorola is also expected to launch a second Android phone, the Motorola Droid, which will come to Verison's offering, and which is expected to turn into a much more appealing phone, though more expensive too, even if no exact details on its pricing emerged. Those who would like to try out the Cliq should head to T-Mobile's website here.
