On Wednesday, wireless carrier T-Mobile made official a new program for its customers, namely JUMP!, which is aimed at providing them with the possibility to enjoy phone upgrades more often than before.

As part of the new deal, T-Mobile’s users will have the option to upgrade their handsets up to two times a year, or as soon as six months from enrollment.

The wireless carrier also announced that users interested in taking advantage of the new offer will be able to do so while enjoying total protection for their smartphones.

Through JUMP!, users will be offered protection against malfunction, damage, loss, or theft for only $10 per month, per phone (plus taxes and fees), which is only $2 more than what users had to pay before for handset protection alone.

The new program will kick off on Sunday, July 14, allowing users to upgrade to a new phone, financed through T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Program (EIP), two times a year, as long as they have been in the JUMP! program for six months.

All that they would need to do is to trade in an eligible T-Mobile handset that still works at any of the participating stores.

The deal also eliminates all remaining EIP payments, and enables current customers to purchase new phones at the same upfront cost as new customers, with device financing and Simple Choice Plan, a no-annual-service contract.

"At some point, big wireless companies made a decision for you that you should have to wait two years to get a new phone for a fair price. That's 730 days of waiting. 730 days of watching new phones come out that you can't have. Or having to live with a cracked screen or an outdated camera," said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile US.

"We say two years is just too long to wait. Today, we're changing all that with the launch of JUMP! Now, customers never have to worry about being stuck with the wrong phone. And, yes - it's really as good as it sounds."

In addition to the new program, T-Mobile also announced that it had expanded its LTE network to 116 metro areas across the United States, now reaching 157 million people.

Some of the metropolitan areas that enjoy T-Mobile's 4G LTE network service at the moment include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta, Miami, and many others.
