If you love fashion and you own an iPad, then you will be thrilled to know that “media incubator” ZiptWorks has just announced the availability of its style-sensitive app designed for the iPad, called StyleSpotter.

The new application enables fashionistas to easily search and find the best clothes and accessories to complement their look, which is possible thanks to the powerful filtering and search algorithm embedded.

The app is built in partnership with top fashion stores like Bloomingdale, UNIQLO, Banana Republic and others, in order to facilitate access to their own branded collections and maintains a constantly updated database covering all kinds of fashion products.

App users can search and browse by brand, color, pricing or popularity. They can also compare prices for the same items, in case they are present in different stores. StyleSpotter will keep an eye on users’ favorite products and notify the users of the app, in case their price tags are lowered.

Are you unsure how to match certain items? StyleSpotter has your back here, too. The complex algorithm upon which the app is built is capable of comparing different items picked up from hundreds of stores and matching the similar ones.

The app was build using efficient technologies like Scala, MongoDB, SOlr and Neo4J to help deliver a superior search experience focused on quality of results. StyleSpotter draws from an immense database of women’s fashion products (said to be covering almost half a million items) that’s constantly updated.

Discount hunters will also benefit from using this app, as StyleSpotter constantly monitors the price of thousand items and brings real-time notifications to users on the iPad. So if you want to be hip this holiday season, but don’t have a fortune to spend towards reaching that goal, this app might be for you.

The app is free for download from the Apple App Store.
