It brings newer kernels, like usual, both the standard, stable options as well as the alternative, more up-to-date ones. Gparted, one of the most important packages in the data recovery and system repair distribution, has also been updated.
The Memtest86+ floppy-image, used to test system memory for errors, has been updated and brings support for the latest chips from both major x86 chip makers, Intel Sandy-Bridge and AMD Fusion.
SysytemRescueCd 2.0.1 is the second update of 2011, the Linux distro started the year, on day one, with a fresh new 2.0 version number.
Despite the big jump, the previous release wasn't exactly revolutionary, the big changes were switching over to XZ compression rather than LZMA for the squash file system and the introduction of the nouveau driver for Nvidia graphics cards as default.
