SystemRescueCd 2.0.0 has been released. Despite the big jump in version number, it's not necessarily a revolutionary update. It does come with a longer list of changes and updates than usual though, including updated Linux kernels, newer Parted and GParted builds, and other newer packages.

The standard Linux kernel has been updated in SystemRescueCd 2.0.0 to Linux kernel 2.6.35.10 which comes with long term support. The alternative kernel has also received an updated, so users wanting a more recent build can run Linux kernel 2.6.36.2.

The latest SystemRescueCd moves to the open-source Nouveau driver for Nvidia cards. The compression mechanism for the live squash filesystem has been switched to XZ, replacing LZMA.

The command-line partition manager has been updated to GNU Parted 2.3, along with patches from Ubuntu 10.10. For those who prefer the graphical environment, Gparted 0.7.1 is included.

Also updated are FSArchiver 0.6.12 and Xorg-server 1.9.3. The Aufs filesystem has been updated to version 2.1. Network-Manager programs have been updated to new major version 0.8.x.

The alternative X server Xfbdev has been removed from the default install since its no longer supported. A 64-bit version of memetester is now included.
