SystemRescueCd, a Live CD distribution based on Gentoo and used for disk partitioning and data rescue tasks, has reached version 1.0.3. The latest edition comes with the updated Linux kernel 2.6.25.4 with Reiser4 support.

The alternative kernels were updated to Linux 2.6.24.07 with Reiser4, and the UnionFS filesystem was replaced with aufs. Network boot-ups through PXE or by using docache now work only with 256 of RAM. The fonts were improved in the graphical environment and the X.org server was updated to version 1.4. It seems that there was a problem in the shell with the serial console, but it is fixed now. In case you need to read PDF documents, you should know that ePDFview 0.1.6-r1 was added to SystemRescueCd. The user can now have NTFS full read-write support thanks to the updated version of ntfs3g (now 1.2506). The support for the Btrfs was improved through a kernel patch and utils, and it is now version 0.14. One of the most important tools in SystemRescueCd, Gparted, will help you partition your disks much more easily as it got to version 0.3.7.
