Microsoft has released a near-final development milestone of System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012.
The Release Candidate of System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 is now available to early adopters for testing through the Microsoft Download Center.
Testers can opt to download either the full install package System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 RC– Evaluation, or a pre-configured virtual image System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 RC – Evaluation (VHD).
“This is a great step forward in enabling our customers to create private cloud solutions, and will allow you to begin creating your private cloud environments,” a member of the Microsoft Server and Cloud Platform team
stated.
“Virtual Machine Manager delivers industry leading fabric, virtual machine and services management in private cloud environments. We have made many improvements since the beta of VMM 2012.”
The Release Candidate is that testing Build for System Center VMM 2012 before the management solution will be released to manufacturing.
Microsoft has yet to share the RTM deadline with the public, but with the RC out the door, the focus now moves to getting System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 ready for release.
According to what little information about the RTM of System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 is available, the software giant is working to finalize the product by the end of 2011.
Fact is that some customers might get the chance to run System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 RTM by later this year, although the general availability date could different from the moment the code goes gold.
A Setup Upgrade is among the many enhancements that System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 RC brings to the table, according to the exhaustive list on the
download page for the testing Build.
It appears that customers will be able to upgrade to System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 RTM from VMM 2008 R2 SP1 or SC VMM 2012 RC.
