Christmas will mark the beginning of the forth month since System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 was released to manufacturing. As of August, customers have been able to grab the final System Center VMM 2008 R2 bits and test drive the release, via a download offering a trial of the product. In order to streamline the testing and adoption of System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Microsoft is making available a range of resources for customers. At the end of last week, the Redmond company updated the documentation associated with the product, that is up for grabs, at no charge, from the Microsoft Download Center.

Customers leveraging VMM 2008 R2 will be able to download the Virtual Machine Manager Deployment Guide; Virtual Machine Manager Guide to Operations Manager Integration; Virtual Machine Manager Security Guide; Virtual Machine Manager Operations Guide; and Virtual Machine Manager Scripting Guide. In addition, Microsoft is offering the Virtual Machine Manager Cmdlet Reference and Building PRO-Enabled Management Packs, also for free.

Of course, while available for download and offline viewing, the Virtual Machine Manager documentation can also be accessed online. IT administrators can read the Virtual Machine Manager Documentation on TechNet as well. It is on the documentation page that Microsoft has centralized key resources for System Center VMM 2008 R2.

“For IT professionals responsible for managing virtual infrastructures, System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008—a member of the System Center family of system management products—provides a straightforward and cost-effective solution for unified management of physical and virtual machines, Performance and Resource Optimization (PRO) for dynamic and responsive management of virtual infrastructure, consolidation of underutilized physical servers, and rapid provisioning of new virtual machines by leveraging the expertise and investments in Microsoft Windows Server technology,” Microsoft explained.
