On Thursday, Microsoft made available for download a new version of the Sysinternals Suite, currently available for download as build 01.08.2013 and containing updates for four of the tools included in the package.

The new release of Mark Russinovich's set of applications brings new flavors of Autoruns (now at version 11.70), Bginfo (4.20), Disk2vhd (1.64), and Process Explorer (15.40), and also improves its support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012, the latest OS releases from Microsoft.

The new Autoruns release provides a new option to show only per-user locations, which should prove highly useful when it comes to learning more on the autostarts of different accounts.

The updated BgInfo should now report the correct version for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, while Process Explorer brings a new view column that will display process DPI awareness support on Windows 8.1 systems.

The full release notes for the new Sysinternals Suite 1.0 Build 01.08.2013 show the following:

- Autoruns v11.70: This release of Autoruns, a powerful utility for scanning and disabling autostart code, adds a new option to have it show only per-user locations, something that is useful when analyzing the autostarts of different accounts than the one that Autoruns is running under.

- Bginfo v4.20: BgInfo, a utility that creates custom desktop backgrounds that display system information, now correctly reports version information for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

- Disk2vhd v1.64: This update to Disk2Vhd, a tool for converting physical system disks to VHDs for use by virtual machines, now supports disk sizes of up to 2 TB.

- Process Explorer v15.40: Process Explorer, a Task Manager replacement, now shows WMI providers hosted in Wmiprvse processes (thanks to Mohamed Elghetany for contributions); includes an option that configures it to automatically run when you logon; and introduces a process view column that shows process DPI awareness support on Windows 8.1 systems.

The updated Sysinternals tools can be downloaded as part of the entire Suite, which is available on Softpedia as well, or as standalone applications. They can be seen listed on this page on Softpedia.
