The Syrian Electronic Army returns with more hacks. This time, they have compromised several Twitter accounts of FOX by gaining access to a HootSuite account.

According to Matthew Keys, the Syrian hackers have hijacked the accounts of FX Australia and FOX TV United Kingdom.

FOX TV United Kingdom has confirmed in a brief statement posted on Facebook that its social media account has been hacked.

“Looks like we’ve been hit by hackers! Our tech team is working to fix this now and we will be back up & running soon,” FOX TV UK representatives stated.

Syrian Electronic Army members have told Keys that they’ve gained access to around 200 social media profiles, including Facebook profiles, linked to the hacked HootSuite account.

Softpedia can confirm that the FOX TV UK and FX Australia Twitter accounts are not the only ones hacked by Syrian Electronic Army.

We’ve come across a Pastebin paste that lists a total of 42 FOX Twitter accounts that have been allegedly hijacked by the hacktivists.

Most of the affected Twitter accounts don’t show any messages posted by the hackers, but some of them still do. For instance, the Twitter account of FlopTV, an online TV portal created by FOX Channels Italy, still displays two tweets related to Syria and the country’s president, Bashar Al-Assad.

The official Twitter account of STAR Movies Asia, another FOX International Channel, also displays links to a couple of Syria-related YouTube videos.

The Twitter accounts of National Geographic channels from various countries, and the ones dedicated to several FOX TV shows and TV series have also been impacted.

We have reached out to HootSuite to learn more about the incident. We’ll update this article in case new details become available.

Over the past days, a large number of HootSuite accounts have been hacked and abused in a diet spam campaign. The company claims that around 7,000 user accounts have been compromised.

However, the incident was caused due to a breach suffered by a third party, not HootSuite.
