A few weeks ago, hackers claiming to be part of the notorious Syrian Electronic Army said they penetrated critical infrastructure systems from Haifa, Israel. Shortly after the report was published, members of the Syrian Electronic Army denied making the claims.

However, there appears to be more to the story.

A few days ago, Israel’s former cyber security adviser Yitzhak Ben Yisrael said Israel managed to foil a cyberattack launched by the Syrian Electronic Army against the water systems of Haifa, The Huffington Post informs.

There are no additional details regarding the failed attempt except for the fact that it took place at around the same time when the hackers claiming to be part of the pro-Assad hacker group published a PDF file of what appeared to be SCADA systems.
