Over time, the Syntax-Brillian company has come up with a wide range of attractive, yet rather expensive display solutions under its Olevia and Vivitar brands, most of these products delivering high-end viewing experiences, but at some rather high prices. And that's also the case with the company's latest announcement, namely the Olevia 265TFHD HDTV and Olevia 247TFHD HDTV models, which, besides providing advanced video processing and connectivity features, have some pretty inaccessible price tags.

According to the company's statement, the new
Olevia 265TFHD HDTV features the same electronics as the Olevia 747i LCD HDTV, including the industry-leading Silicon Optix Realta Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) video processor, for unprecedented image clarity, detail sharpness and the truest color reproduction (6500K calibrated). Furthermore, it features a striking black aluminum thin bezel design with removable ultra-thin speakers enabling the TV to adapt to a variety of applications and viewing environments.

The device's clear QAM enables the TV to display Full HD unencrypted digital cable from standard cable service, at wide viewing angles, while the Olevia Big Picture Technology is designed to eliminate overscan and to enable consumers to enjoy all of the broadcast image as well as picture-in-picture and split screen functions. Moreover, the device comes packed with the most popular types of inputs, including here 2 HDMI, 2 Component, 2 S-Video, 2 Composite and 1 VGA input.

On the other hand, the Olevia 247TFHD HDTV sports some less impressive features, which is to be expected, considering its lower price tag. Thus, the device incorporates a MTK MDDI video processor, as well as an updated industrial design featuring thin bezel and thin speakers. Furthermore, it also sports a clear QAM tuner, as well as Olevia Big Picture Technology and the same category of inputs.

"With our new state-of-the-art Olevia 65-Inch HDTV we are delivering premium performance to the mainstream consumer," said James Li, President and Chief Executive Officer, Syntax-Brillian. "We are proud to expand our line of full-HD Olevia HDTVs, and we are especially pleased to introduce this single product, our 65" LCD HDTV, to Costco for the holiday shopper, thereby offering the Olevia brand to a consumer who may not yet have had the chance to purchase Olevia products."

The new Olevia 265TFHD HDTV will retail for around 6,999 US dollars, while the 247TFHD HDTV model will come at around 1,999 US dollars, which are some pretty high prices to pay for these things, albeit probably worth it, taking into consideration the features these things have to offer.

This is odd coming across this article. I had thought Olevia was more of a budget conscious brand. As a DISH Network employee and subscriber having access to more HD channels than anyone in the industry, it was very important to me to get a superb picture out of whichever TV I purchased. Of course it was also important to me to balance features and picture quality with the price. SO I did a ton of research and that’s where I first came across the Olevia brand. The specs looked good and their size’s for the respective price ranges were also great but it was a brand I hadn’t ever heard of so I was skeptical. After reading numerous glowing reviews however I was off to the electronics store to take a look with my own eyes. The Olevia did not disappoint. In fact it looked as good as or better than much more expensive brands so I picked it up. Once I got home I was surprised again, hooked up to my 722 HD DVR it looked better than it did in the store! For anyone who hasn’t already upgraded to HD I would definitely recommend checking this brand out and DISH Network too while your at it; DISH offers HD free for life for qualifying customers on all of their America’s Top Packages which is an awesome deal as well.
