Syncplicity, a service that very much resembles Dropbox, is now available as a native iPad application. The new app comes high on the heels of Syncplicity’s iPhone debut.
An expert in cloud-based file management, sync, collaboration and backup solutions,
Syncplicity announced this week the immediate availability of its native iPad app.
Its purpose is to bring comprehensive and secure cloud-based file access and management to iPad users, Syncplicity said.
Users of the new app can browse, share and manage files and folders stored on their PC, Mac, SharePoint servers, in popular cloud-based services such as Google Docs, or even on their corporate network.
Unlike Dropbox, Syncplicity has a remote wipe function, permission controls, and complete end-to-end encryption for all data transferred, as well as for the data stored on the Syncplicity service, and the mobile device itself.
Existing users downloading the iPad app today can log in with their current credentials immediately.
First-time users of Syncplicity can start with a free 2GB Personal Edition account or a free 30-day Business Edition trial.
Anyone can sign up directly from within the iPad app or at www.syncplicity.com.
Paid plans are also available for more seats, storage, as well as extra features that support personal or business requirements.
In light of their new release, David Coleman, founder and managing director of Collaborative Strategies, commented: “We have a saying, ‘the vendor with the most connections wins’.”
“Syncplicity's ability to create private clouds with Google Apps, SharePoint, VMware Zimbra, and now Salesforce, shows they have taken this strategy to heart and are on a winning path. Taking the cloud to where the users are - on their desktops, mobile devices and tablets - is the right strategy,” said Coleman.
Syncplicity 1.2 is a universal app suitable for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 4.2 or later.
