Roughly two weeks ago, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced the release of a software update for its Symbian^3-powered smartphones, namely Symbian Anna, and the OS upgrade is available now in more countries around the world. Initially made available in a number of a little over 17 countries, the software update can be accessed at the moment by users in more than 7 new countries too.

The list of markets where the Symbian Anna OS upgrade was made available now includes France, Spain, Latin America, Ireland, Hong Kong, Romania, and Ukraine too, in addition to the initial markets.

Unfortunately, it seems that there still are users in a series of countries who will have to wait longer before the software update becomes available for their mobile phones as well, including the United States.

However, Nokia did say that they were aiming at making the software update available for a wider range of markets in the next few weeks, and more info on the countries set to taste it should emerge soon.

The Symbian Anna software update was released for handsets like the Nokia N8, Nokia C6-01, C7 and Nokia E7, all of which were launched last year with the Symbian^3 platform on board. The update will bring along a nice series of enhancements, new features and fixes on these devices, making the experience users receive from them far more pleasant than before.

However, we should note that Nokia already launched the next version of Symbian, called Symbian Belle, which adds more improvements into the mix, and which will arrive on shelves soon on three new phones, the Nokia 600, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701.

The Symbian Belle platform will be released on devices that landed with Symbian^3 and Symbian Anna OS flavors on board too, starting with the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, but Nokia did not offer a specific release date for it.

The owners of a Nokia N8, C6-01, C7 or E7 smartphone interested in learning more on the update process to Symbian Anna should have a look at this article on Softpedia.
