Espoo, Finland-based mobile phone maker Nokia was rumored a while ago to plan working on a new handset that would soon arrive on the market with the new Symbian^3 operating system on board, namely the Nokia C7, and confirmation on the device's existence has just emerged from the company's website. An XML file listed on Nokia's website unveils a series of details on the new Symbian^3-based mobile phone, even if the company did not announce it officially until now.

The Nokia C7 is one of the first mobile phones Nokia is expected to launch on the market with the Symbian^3 operating system on board. However, the first such device from the company should be the Nokia N8, a new high-end device from the company, though the last in the N Series to run under the Symbian operating system. Future N Series devices would come with the MeeGo platform on board, the leading handset vendor confirmed a few days ago.

In the meantime, we should take a look at the hardware specifications on Nokia's C7-00 device that emerged via the aforementioned XML posted on the company's site (via Engadget). Among them, we can count the fact that the handset should sport an ARM processor inside, while boasting 3G UMTS/HSDPA, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity options. Moreover, the device is expected to pack a 360 x 640 pixel nHD display.

Previous rumors on the new Symbian-based mobile phone from Nokia suggested that it would include an 8-megapixel photo snapper with dual-LED flash, and that the display on this piece of hardware should be 3.5-inches large. However, these specs are not confirmed for the time being. Even so, given the emergence of this file on Nokia's website, one might expect for the official announcement on the Nokia C7 to be made in the near future, and all the necessary details on the phone should be unveiled at that time. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
