As the need for secure network infrastructure grows, businesses are looking for computing and networking solutions that combine cost efficiency with performance and reliability, as well as, of course, security. Aiming to cater to these needs, Fujitsu and Symantec Corporation have decided to enter a strategic agreement for the development of better servers. This will enable both parties to expand their businesses worldwide, for a wider possibility of responding to their customers' need for diverse information and risk management.

This arrangement has Fujitsu combining its server solutions with Symantec software. More specifically, the former will allow the latter to install its data-management and storage-management software on its high-performance PRIMERGY and ETERNUS storage systems. Among these tools are the NetBackup, Backup Exec, Backup Exec System Recovery and Storage Foundation.

Also, Symantec will be installing its “de facto security solution” known as the Symantec Endpoint Protection. Furthermore, the two partners will work together on identifying the needs of their customers and providing them with products and services, allowing them to streamline datacenter management and take full advantage of their IT investments.

“Our customers continue to face flat or decreasing budgets in light of exponential information growth,” Enterprise Products Group President Greg Hughes of Symantec said. “With this enhanced relationship, Fujitsu and Symantec intend to more tightly integrate our solutions and services to help customers improve hardware utilization, reduce complexity, and improve operational visibility.”

“By combining Fujitsu's strengths in storage and server products with Symantec's leading software for storage/server management and data protection, I am confident that we will be able to offer a more competitive range of solutions to our customers,” Corporate Senior Executive Vice President Masami Yamamoto added.

The partnership aims to enable reduced costs, minimized risks and a more effective and secure information management for any business.
