Hopefully, the 2006 hack won't come back to haunt them again

After recommending pcAnywhere customers to temporarily disable their products in order to prevent potential hack attacks, Symantec began releasing patches for all the affected versions to make sure users are protected.

On January 23, they released a patch for the 12.5 variant of pcAnywhere and now they made available a fix for the 12.0 and 12.1 versions.

Users are recommended to immediately update their applications, and if they encounter difficulties, they can contact Symantec at [email protected].

This entire incident began after hackers revealed that they were in the possession of some Symantec application source codes.

While most of the products, part of the Norton family, were not affected because the breach took place in 2006 and the code was already considered old, pcAnywhere customers were advised to deploy safety measures and even disable the products until further notice.
