The security of our mail accounts is surely one of the most important aspects of the internet. E-mail addresses tend to become the main way for online communication because they allow us to send messages, pictures and all kind of files with ease. Even an e-mail address is extremely useful, sometimes it can become a dangerous object for the security of our system. How come? Well, many internet clients are making use of e-mail addresses to advertise their products, send malicious or infected files or even spam. Therefore, it's obvious that we must protect ourselves against this threat. Many of the web-based e-mails, such as Google and Yahoo, are offering anti-spam tools meant to protect the owner of the account. But, what about the persons that are using mail clients for their POP3 accounts?

This is one of the main concerns for every developer, because a mail client downloads the message into your computer and, if you save an infected file, you computer can be infected too. That's why many software developers created more or less powerful solutions to protect our mail accounts.

One of the most well known mail security applications is the one provided by Symantec, a program that is meant to allow you to read your message remaining safe and secure.

Recently, Symantec Mail Security received the 2007 Technology of the Year Award offered by InfoWorld Magazine that said that the application is the best anti-spam solution in the entire world.

"We are honored that InfoWorld has once again recognized the superior anti-spam capabilities of Symantec Mail Security, naming it Best Anti-Spam Solution two years in a row. This award validates Symantec's commitment to providing our customers with the most comprehensive protection against today's fast-growing email threats," said Francis deSouza, vice president of Enterprise Messaging Management, Symantec Corp.

"According to InfoWorld's Test Center analysts and editors, Symantec Mail Security earned a 2007 Technology of the Year Award for Best AntiSpam by demonstrating "best-in-class performance with a spam catch rate of more than 97 percent," Symantec said in a press release.
