Symantec Corp unveiled today the latest versions of its applications for PC security.

All three products, Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton AntiVirus 2006 and Norton Personal Firewall 2006, include Norton Protection Center, whose task is to find the most efficient solutions for security problems.

Norton Internet Security 2006 is composed of Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton AntiSpam, Norton Privacy Control and Norton Parental Control; all of them include Norton Protection
Center, whose task is to find the most efficient solutions to the security problems a user faces.

Norton Internet Security 2006 offers users better security and data protection than ever before. For example, the antispam component of Norton Internet Security has been specially tuned to identify and stop new emerging phishing emails while allowing legitimate emails to be delivered to the user's inbox.

Norton AntiVirus 2006 is available both as a standalone solution and as a component of Norton Internet Security 2006. Norton AntiVirus 2006 extends Symantec's best-of-breed antivirus removal technology to new risks such as spyware and adware and deals with the unique side effects of these risks, including changes to the registry, processes, files, and more. Norton AntiVirus 2006 now stops home page hijacking spyware to give users improved protection without requiring definition updates.

Norton Personal Firewall 2006 is also available both as a standalone product and as a component of Norton Internet Security 2006. Right out of the box, Norton Personal Firewall comes pre-configured to recognize and properly handle today's most popular applications. These intelligent firewall rules allow consumers to use their computers safely while eliminating the confusing alerts that plague other firewall products.

The estimated retail price for Norton AntiVirus 2006 is $39.99 and Norton Internet Security 2006 costs $69.99.

The estimated retail price for Norton Personal Firewall 2006 is $49.99.

Do not install Norton 2006 on any computer that has had 2002 installed. Doing so may require a reformating of the hard drive. Installing 2006 makes your computer impossible to use. Norton has been aware of this problem for over two weeks and continues to sell the software without warning the user. Their support's only suggestion at this point is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall all your software.

Call me stupid. But as a loyal Norton client for years (10 ?) I reinstalled Norton System Works 4 times! And each time it has installed perfectly only to COMPLETELY WIPE OUT the MBR on my brand new hard disk. Well no more. I've officially said GOOD BYE to anything from Norton on all four of our home systems. And, as the person who approves our IT purchases for our enterprise (one of the Fortune 1000) I'm stopping all future purcashes - immediately on Monday morning. This was absolutely unacceptable.

bought multiple copies of and installed Norton internet security 2006. Now computers are slow, often cannot browse internet with internet explorer, and processes hang. wont even do shutdown or reboot sometimes without killing all norton processes like nmain etc. As soon as those cancelled, can reboot and usually can browse internet again. I would be very afraid of installing this version. I have used norton for years but never had this kind of problem. XP is sending error reports on norton modules to microsoft but I don't know if symantec is doing squat about them. I'm thinking about uninstalling all of these and switching to some other product. this frustration is not worth it. have tried multiple live updates to with no help.
