If you're not afraid of installing beta versions of security software, this is pretty much the best news you can get today: Symantec has just launched two betas of its future security apps, thus allowing users to try out the feature lineup of the next releases before the public unveiling.

The first change that you should notice is the different name used for the 2015 product lineup. Symantec decided to replace Norton Internet Security with Norton Security, while Norton 360 is now being called Norton Security with Backup.

These apps will be available on all supported platforms, which include Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

Norton Security 2015 is entirely based on cloud power, which Symantec says should lead to “reduced on-disk definition size and real-time access to the Symantec Global Intelligence Network.” At the same time, the new products are being shipped with a completely new look and feel, which should make it easier for beginners to access the built-in features.

At the same time, the new UI is expected to better tackle the growing tablet industry, so it's also touch-optimized in order to be used on Android and iPads with ease.

Backup features have also been revamped in this new version, with users now allowed to securely back up photos and videos placed in the default library folders automatically either in the cloud or to a defined location.

“Too often consumers believe they must trade speed for security and therefore, they put their information at unnecessary risk,” said Fran Rosch, executive vice president, Norton Business Unit, Symantec.

“Our research shows one-in-two people don’t take basic precautions like using passwords or security software on their mobile devices. The changes we’re making to Norton are designed to help keep your information safe without sacrificing the performance of your smartphone, tablet or laptop.”

Symantec's new security products are offering support for all Windows versions on the market, so they are also running flawlessly on Windows XP, the OS edition that no longer receives updates and security patches since April. Symantec is one of the companies that have promised to continue protecting XP users, so expect all its future products to continue working on this unsupported OS version.

Overall, these new betas definitely come in handy to many users, so go ahead and click the links below to download them right away and see what they bring new. Keep in mind that since they're still in beta, a number of bugs and other issues might still exist.
