At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Symantec has announced new mobile security solutions for consumers and businesses. The new products will also be showcased at the RSA Conference in San Francisco.

The new solutions are designed for both iOS and Android devices. First of all, file syncing and sharing have been improved with the integration of Norton Zone with Symantec Encryption Management Server (SEMS).

This enables organizations to add an extra layer of protection for sensitive data by allowing them to manage encryption keys themselves. Norton Zone also integrates support for the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) to provide single sign-on through two-factor authentication, identity providers and malware scanning.

There are also some improvements from which VPN users can benefit. Symantec Validation and ID Protection (VIP) now includes new Push Authentication technology.

This means that VPN users no longer have to enter their PIN every time they log into a connection. Instead, they simply “allow” it from their mobile devices and the connection is established automatically.

In addition, Symantec has announced expanding its mobile partner ecosystem. The Symantec Sealed program, which has 60 partners, provides customers with a single, secure workspace from which they can manage third-party licensed and organic applications.

“In a world where mobility plays an integral part of both our personal and professional lives, Symantec's mission is to help reduce security and privacy risks that prevent people from getting the most out of their devices,” noted Chandra J. Rangan, vice president of enterprise segment marketing at Symantec.

“We are thrilled to build out our partner ecosystem and share our expertise in mobile security management and technologies this week to further help our customers learn firsthand how easy it is to be productive and protected -- wherever they may be.”
