Besides revealing their plans to offer organizations solutions to help them better connect company business, legal and IT departments while reducing risks and costs, Symantec also made public the fact that it had acquired LiveOffice, a market leader when it comes to cloud-based archiving.

“The acquisition of LiveOffice further extends Symantec’s leadership in archiving and eDiscovery.

“Symantec continues to enhance its offerings and deepen its commitment to provide the most comprehensive and innovative Information Management solutions delivered on premise, in the cloud, or as a hybrid solution,” said Deepak Mohan, senior vice president, Information Management Group at Symantec.

With this latest purchase, the Mountain View-based company hopes to enhance its archiving and eDiscovery services.

Acquired for a price of $115 million (80 million EUR), the solutions offered by LiveOffice should enable Symantec to aid organizations in storing, managing and discovering a broad range of information sources such as email, instant messaging and file-sharing.
