Sylvester Stallone's 36-year-old son, Sage Stallone, has been found dead in his LA home. His body was discovered by either his girlfriend or a maid, with paramedics pronouncing him dead at the scene, TMZ reports.
The celebrity e-zine was among the first to break the news: Sage was found unresponsive inside the house.
There were several indications that he had overdosed on pills though, for the time being, there's nothing to point at a suicide.
“Law enforcement sources tell us, Sage's death does NOT appear to be a suicide. We're told there was NO suicide note found at the scene,” TMZ writes in an update to the original post announcing Sage's death.
Sage, Stallone's son with Sasha Czack, famously made his movie debut with his father in “Rocky 5” in 1990, where he played Rocky's son, Robert Balboa.
He continued in movies, acting and directing.
TMZ says Stallone is besides himself with grief.
“Sources tell us officials DID find 'numerous empty pill bottles' in the area where Sage's body was discovered. No word on what types of medication the pill bottles were for. We're told an autopsy is scheduled for some time in the next 48 hours,” the same media outlet further notes.
“Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever,” Sylvester Stallone's rep, Michelle Bega, says in a statement released to TMZ.
Other reports online say that chances are that Sage had been dead for quite some time inside his Hollywood Hills home in which he lived all alone.
A friend visited him yesterday and got no answer at the door, which is when he alerted the authorities that something might be wrong.
A welfare check was performed by the LAPD, but the officers found nothing suspicious. Hours later, Stallone's maid called 911 to report a body.
