In the first days of January this year, while talking about his upcoming film “The Expendables,” Sylvester Stallone, who wrote, directed and starred in it, revealed shooting certain scenes was so brutal he even ended up with a broken neck. To silence haters claiming he was inventing injuries for the sake of publicity, Sly has posted X-rays of the bolts keeping his neck in place on his official website, as the Mirror can confirm.

Despite being of what many consider a respectable age, for “The Expendables,” Stallone insisted on doing most of his stunts alone. Some of the things he was supposed to do would have probably knocked down a much younger action movie star, so perhaps his fans were not that surprised that the 63-year-old star suffered a hairline fracture in his neck during a fight scene. Haters, on the other hand, were not convinced, saying he was only coming up with the story to generate publicity for the film.

“Sylvester Stallone has released X-rays of the bolts keeping his broken neck together after whispers that he’d made the injury up. The Hollywood legend revealed last week that the break happened while he was filming his new action movie ‘The Expendables,’ in which he co-stars with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Stone Cold Steve Austin. […] However, online gossip mongers started speculating that the star can’t have fractured his verterbrae as he’d not been seen in public wearing a neckbrace,” the Mirror writes.

Upset about all the gossip, Stallone took concrete action and posted two X-ray shots on his website, showing exactly where his neck was broken. With them, the actor also uploaded the following statement: “For the doubters and the haters, a picture is worth a thousand words. You walk the walk, you pay a price. But, as bad as it was at least we have it on film. Keep punchin’. Sly. P.S. To the haters, I don’t need to invent pain, there’s enough of it out there to go around. P.S.S. The reason I was never seen in a neck brace is because I stayed home for three weeks to heal.”

“The Expendables” has already wrapped shooting and is now in post-production, getting ready for the US theatrical release in August this year. If Stallone’s neck injury is not enough to convince you that this will be a very action-packed movie, check out the trailer below.
