Apple has confirmed that the Grand Opening of the Sydney Apple Store will take place this week, on Thursday, June 19, at 5 pm. The first 2,500 customers through the door will receive limited edition T-shirts.

The Apple Store, Sydney is located at 367-373 George Street in Sydney, at the corner of King and George Streets.

Store hours are:

Mon - Wed, Fri, Sat: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thu: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sun: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

For those who have questions or need hands-on technical support for their Apple products, "friendly, expert advice" can be found at the Genius Bar as follows:

Mon - Wed, Fri, Sat: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00pm Thu: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sun: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

In October 2006, Apple submitted architectural drawings to the planning department of Sydney, Australia for a three-level store at 367 George Street in the central business district. The planning department approved the plans, revealing them to the public on Feb. 6, 2007. In the drawings, the building is alternately referred to as "George Street" or "77 King Street," the latter being the side-street.

In Apple's photo-rendering of the future building, the glass fa?ade that extends from the sidewalk upward three levels is barely visible. Still, ifoAppleStore explains that the white Apple logo is suspended right in the middle, while the glass fa?ade actually forms a "box" on the front of the building, "taking the place of a similar, yet less distinctive, structure on the current building," the website dealing with Apple's stores noted this month.

Apple's version of the fa?ade is seemingly "much more transparent," and "relies on the companies patented design and structural elements perfected at the Fifth Avenue and other stores," it is revealed in the architect's drawings.
