Swype has just announced the release of a new version of their Swype Beta application for devices running under Google’s Android operating system, with a series of new features packed inside, including Dragon Dictation.

This is a voice-to-text feature that the team of developers behind the application has made available for Swype users to provide them with faster typing than before.

Available at the moment with support for a number of four languages, the option should see further enhancements in the near future.

“You've mastered text-entry using your finger, now get ready to use the best voice-to-text directly from within Swype. Dragon Dictation is now integrated directly into the Swype keyboard,” the development team explains in a recent post on the company’s forums.

“Just press the Dragon Flame key and speak. This version of Swype + Dragon Dictation currently supports English, French, Italian, German and Spanish, but will be expanded to support additional languages in 2012.”

At the same time, the new application flavor comes with an improved language modeling algorithm, which should offer better accuracy when it comes to suggestions.

Swype will analyze the text that has been already entered, thus being capable of offering more accurate predictions expected to make sense in the context of the sentence.

Following the addition of these enhancements, the new Swype beta for Android with Dragon Dictation can deliver:

- Up to a 40% increase in prediction accuracy when a language profile is present. - Learns over time as you use it, building up a personal language profile for you. - Enabled only for English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Other languages coming soon!

Moreover, the application comes with the option to download any of the 50+ additional languages that the application offers support for at the moment, all straight from the Swype Settings window.

One thing that should be noted right from the start is that the application landed on devices with a series of issues that have been resolved during the past few hours.

“Unfortunately this means if you received a Swype update on Dec. 20th or 21st, you have to uninstall the Swype BETA and re-install it using the Swype Installer to get the fixed version, which is now available,” Swype explains.

The latest version of Swype Beta for Android is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link.
