Another beta version of the highly-acclaimed input method Swype for Android has been launched by the Swype development team. This is the 5th Beta release of the application, which is among the best input methods available for the Android platform.

Swype for Android 2.15.56.14870 beta adds a few requested new features and addresses some annoying bugs that plagued previous versions of the application.

The complete changelog is detailed below:

Added support for new installer features, such as version checking and installation repair; Merged the most recent changes from trunk (mostly device-specific bugfixes).

In addition to the above changes, Swype improved support for Chinese Pinyin, which is still in its experimental stages. Users are recommended to read the Chinese Help to learn how to use it, as the typing technique is significantly different from other languages.

The application's installer has also been updated to version 1.1.14896 and includes even more changes than the Swype for Android app:

Revised installer workflow. Users can now enable Swype and select it as the default input method from within the Swype installer; The installer now includes a repair feature. If a previous installation failed, or if the existing Swype BETA installation is broken (missing/corrupt license, etc), the installer will attempt to resume the installation process and repair any broken elements; Clarified error messages to give a more accurate description of the specific problem encountered; Added links to the tutorial and tips-and-tricks videos to the end of the installation.

Swype for Android 2.15.56.14870 beta is free and can be downloaded from Softpedia.

As a side note, users that have purchased their phones with Swype pre-installed should not attempt to install this beta of Swype. They can install it only if they have registered for the beta on Swype's website,

Don't forget to leave your feedback, so that Swype can improve its application.
