Kerberos, creators of critically-acclaimed Sword of the Stars series, recently launched a new project, which is inspired by the dungeon crawling game.

The new game is called “Sword of the Stars: The Pit,” and is described by the developers as a fun, fast, light-hearted action RPG, made in the tradition of Rogue and other old school dungeon-diving
games.”

As the name suggests, the game is set in the Sword of the Stars universe. The new title won't have high hardware requirement, instead fans of the genre should expect retro graphics, but modern turn-based gameplay.

The playable Alpha Demo that has just been launched offers players the chance to try out one of the game’s three playable characters, the Engineer.

The demo contains only five playable levels, whereas the full game will release with 30 levels. Check it out here.

A beta version of “Sword of the Stars: The Pit” is slated for a late November or early
December release, while the final game is scheduled for launch on Steam in January or
February of 2013.
