A group of activists called Generation Basic Income Initiative is selling a Swiss bank vault filled with 8 million coins worth $440,000 (€324,000), just perfect for a swim in a pool of money.

The vault was filled with coins after the group campaigned for a basic monthly income for each Swiss citizen. After gathering 15 tons of five-centime pieces, they placed the whole amount into a bank vault. Now, the entire vault and its contents are for sale with a negotiable price.

Besides the value of the content, the safe is “the original bank safe from the former Schweizer Volksbank and known to be one of the finest Swiss piece of craft-work in the early 20th century. It is in very good shape and still usable as a bank deposit safe. It will be removed from its original location and be replaced anywhere in the world,” spokesman Che Wagner tells Daily Mail.

The General Basic Income fights for a minimum monthly disposal household income given by the state to Switzerland's citizens. After gathering the 15 tons of coins, the group dumped them in front of the Swiss Parliament and initiated a petition to support their cause.

The Parliament decided to address its citizens and hold a national referendum concerning the issue after the petition accumulated more than 100,000 signatures. The activists are now selling the vault in an attempt to take their campaign to a global level.

“The budget of our Generation Basic Income global cultural campaign is estimated at $13.6 (€10) million; the amount we'll need to move on with our work to promote the idea of the basic income worldwide and especially in Switzerland, where within three years a national vote is held about the issue,” a representative of the group told Daily Mail.

The Generation Basic Income Initiative was supported by citizens not only from Switzerland but from the whole Europe, and taking it globally the group will help other citizens ask for their rightful income.
